New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved significant tenure extensions for two senior officers currently serving in central roles, as per orders issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on June 3, 2025.
Aseem Kumar’s Deputation at MNRE Extended Till 2027
Aseem Kumar (IDES:1999), currently serving as Director in the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy (MNRE), will continue in his role for another two years. The ACC has cleared MNRE’s proposal to extend Kumar’s central deputation tenure beyond June 28, 2025, now lasting until June 28, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Mr Kumar has been on central deputation since June 29, 2020, and has contributed to key initiatives related to India’s clean energy mission. His extended tenure ensures continuity in several important renewable energy programs currently underway.
Sushil Kumar Singh to Continue as Mumbai Port Authority Chairperson
In a parallel development, Sushil Kumar Singh (IRSME:1993), the Chairperson of Deendayal Port Authority, will continue to hold additional charge as Chairperson of the Mumbai Port Authority. The extension is for a period of six months with effect from April 4, 2025, or until a regular appointment is made, or until further orders.

Mr Singh, who first assumed the additional charge in October 2024, is now serving his second six-month extension. The ACC approved the proposal from the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways to retain his services in a dual capacity, recognizing the need for experienced leadership in India’s port infrastructure sector.
Extension Playing Pivotal Roles
These extensions reflect the government’s strategic focus on leadership stability in crucial ministries handling renewable energy and maritime infrastructure. With India’s growing emphasis on sustainable energy and efficient port operations, experienced officers like Aseem Kumar and Sushil Kumar Singh are expected to continue playing pivotal roles in their respective domains.
