The 1996 batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Arun Kumar Sahu has been appointed as the new Ambassador of India to the Republic of Bulgaria by the Government of India.
Currently serving as the Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, Sahu has been handling the portfolio of Central Europe since September 2022. Prior to this, he held the position of High Commissioner of India to Trinidad & Tobago, where he furthered India’s diplomatic relations in the Caribbean.
Mr Sahu hails from Deogarh, Odisha. He is set to assume his new role shortly, according to official sources from the Ministry of External Affairs.
Sahu is an alumnus of Ravenshaw College and holds Master’s Degrees in War in the Modern World from King’s College London and Linguistics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. His early education was at Ravenshaw Collegiate School in Cuttack and Chandra Sekhar Behera Zilla School in Sambalpur.
This appointment reflects the Government of India’s continued commitment to strengthening its diplomatic ties with nations around the world, with Sahu’s extensive experience in foreign affairs expected to play a crucial role in furthering India’s relationship with Bulgaria.
