Ms. Yashika Mehta, a 2016-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, has been selected for appointment as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas (MoPNG). She was recommended for Central deputation by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA).
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) on March 13, 2025, Ms. Mehta has been appointed under the Central Staffing Scheme (CSS) for a period of three years from the date of taking over charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The order also directed that she be relieved of her current duties immediately to assume her new role at MoPNG.
