Amidst a recent development, Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Mr. Parvathaneni Harish was appointed as the Indian Ambassador to the United Nations in New York. Mr. Harish is a 1990-batch IFS officer who is presently serving as the Indian Ambassador to Germany.
Officer Harish was previously posted as the Additional Secretary (Economic Relations) in the Ministry of External Affairs. As Additional Secretary (Economic Relations), Mr. Harish led the Economic Diplomacy Division, which deals with bilateral economic relations of India with other countries and the Multilateral Economic Relations Division. He was also the Indian Sous Sherpa for G20, G7, BRICS and IBSA.
