The tenure of IFS officer Shiv Pal Singh as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has been extended until February 5, 2026.
Singh, an Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer from the 1997 batch of the Uttar Pradesh cadre, has been serving as the CVO of BHEL since June 21, 2022. An alumnus of IIT Delhi, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master’s in Thermal Engineering. Additionally, he has pursued studies in Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley.
Throughout his career, Singh has held important roles in both state and central government departments. In Uttar Pradesh, he contributed to forest and wildlife conservation, served as Special Secretary in the Tourism Department, and was Managing Director of the UP State Tourism Development Corporation. He has also worked on projects supported by international agencies such as JICA, the World Bank, and GEF.
At the national level, Singh has served in the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, where he handled key portfolios such as Wildlife, Forest Conservation, and the National Tiger Conservation Authority. He also played a significant role in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, overseeing the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) for much of its duration.
