IGL Cuts Domestic PNG Prices by Rs 0.70 per SCM for Delhi-NCR Households from January 2026

Price reduction follows PNGRB’s rationalised pipeline tariffs, making piped natural gas more affordable for Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad consumers

New Delhi: Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), India’s largest city gas retailer, on Wednesday announced a reduction of Rs 0.70 per standard cubic metre (scm) in domestic piped natural gas (PNG) prices for households across Delhi and NCR towns, effective from January 1, 2026.

The company, in a post on X, confirmed that the revised rates after the reduction will be Rs 47.89 per scm in Delhi, Rs 46.70 per scm in Gurugram, and Rs 47.76 per scm in Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad. This move is expected to make cooking gas more affordable for thousands of households in the national capital region.

Subheading: PNG Price Cut Aligned with PNGRB Tariff Reforms

The reduction follows the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board’s (PNGRB) overhaul of pipeline tariffs, which aims to simplify and rationalise natural gas transportation across India. Under the new tariff framework, effective from January 1, 2026, the number of distance-based tariff zones has been reduced from three to two—up to 300 km and beyond. A single lower Zone-1 rate, approximately Rs 54 per million British thermal unit, will now apply nationwide for both CNG and domestic PNG customers, regardless of the distance from the gas source.

This rationalisation is designed to make natural gas transportation more transparent, cost-effective, and fair, benefiting consumers and the city gas distribution sector. Think Gas has already announced reductions in CNG and domestic PNG prices across multiple states ahead of the implementation of the new tariffs.

Subheading: IGL Reinforces Commitment to Clean and Affordable Energy

Commenting on the announcement, IGL highlighted its continued focus on providing clean, sustainable, and affordable energy to consumers. “IGL reinforces its commitment to making clean energy both accessible and affordable as we step into 2026,” the company said.

This price reduction is expected to ease household energy costs while encouraging the adoption of natural gas, a cleaner alternative to conventional fuels, in urban kitchens across Delhi and NCR.

About IGL:

The company plays a key role in promoting clean energy, operational efficiency, and sustainability in the urban energy sector.
