Chennai: In a significant step toward modernizing its mobile service offerings, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has soft-launched eSIM services in the Tamil Nadu Circle, with a full pan-India rollout to follow in the coming months. The launch coincides with Independence Day 2025, underlining BSNL’s commitment to a digitally empowered India.
With this move, BSNL joins the ranks of global telecom operators offering embedded SIM (eSIM) capabilities—eliminating the need for a physical SIM card and enabling instant activation on compatible smartphones and wearables.
“A Leap Towards Secure and Future-Ready Connectivity”
Announcing the launch, A. Robert J. Ravi, Chairman and Managing Director, BSNL, stated:
“The eSIM launch underscores BSNL’s commitment to secure, future-ready connectivity and a truly Digital India. Customers will enjoy instant, SIM-less activation, dual-SIM flexibility, and improved security over traditional SIM cards. We will soon introduce additional security layers for enhanced protection.”
The initiative is part of BSNL’s broader digital transformation strategy as it prepares to expand its 4G and 5G services across the country.
