58th roar and counting!
India has once again reinforced its commitment to wildlife conservation with the addition of the 58th Tiger Reserve in the country. Madhya Pradesh’s Madhav Tiger Reserve has officially been included in the national list of Tiger Reserves, marking a significant milestone for the state and the nation’s environmental efforts.
MP has made remarkable strides in tiger conservation with the successful reintroduction of tigers in its reserves. Madhav Tiger Reserve is now the 9th Tiger Reserve in MP, known for its rich biodiversity and critical role in preserving the royal Bengal tiger. This addition is a result of the relentless efforts and dedication of forest officials, conservationists, and wildlife lovers who have worked tirelessly towards the protection of wildlife and natural habitats.
Coinciding with the completion of two years of the tiger reintroduction project in Madhav National Park, the wildlife sanctuary was declared a tiger reserve late on Friday evening. In 2023, three tigers, including two females, were introduced to Madhav National Park as part of a tiger reintroduction project.
With the birth of two cubs to a female tiger, the number of big cats in Madhav National Park has now risen to five.
