Kuwait City – In a significant diplomatic engagement, India’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Dr. Adarsh Swaika, 2002 batch IFS officer, met with the Prime Minister of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, at Bayan Palace in the Hawalli Governorate. The meeting underscored the growing strength of the India-Kuwait strategic partnership, built on mutual respect, energy cooperation, and people-to-people ties.
Carrying Modi’s Message, Pushing Strategic Alignment
Ambassador Swaika extended warm greetings on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and conveyed India’s appreciation for the continued support of the Kuwaiti leadership. The two sides reiterated their shared vision for enhanced bilateral cooperation—particularly in areas of strategic and economic interest.
This high-level dialogue is the latest in a series of structured engagements that continue to cement a multifaceted relationship. Both nations emphasized their commitment to further expanding the partnership in a rapidly evolving global environment.
Focus on Indian Diaspora and Bilateral Coordination

Earlier this month, Ambassador Swaika, also met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah. Discussions centered on bilateral developments and the welfare of the Indian community in Kuwait, which now exceeds one million people.
India’s envoy reiterated the community’s critical role as a cultural and economic bridge between the two nations, and called for greater cooperation on safeguarding their rights and well-being. Welfare of the diaspora remains a key pillar in the India-Kuwait agenda.
Energy, Economy, and Emerging Sectors of Cooperation
India and Kuwait share a long-standing energy relationship. Kuwait ranks as India’s sixth-largest crude oil supplier and fourth-largest LPG supplier, making it the eighth-largest hydrocarbon trade partner overall. This robust energy trade remains central to India’s energy security strategy.
However, the engagement has steadily moved beyond hydrocarbons. Both countries are deepening cooperation in petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, information technology, and digital innovation. This diversification signals a shift towards a modern, multi-sectoral partnership with long-term strategic value.
