The 42nd All India Police Equestrian Championship and Mounted Police Duty Meet will be organised from December 26, 2023 to January 5, 2024 at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in Hyderabad.
The event is being held under the auspices of the All India Police Sports Control Board, New Delhi.
In this Championship, 22 equestrian teams consisting of 610 participants and 340 horses from various State Police Forces, Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and Central Police Organisations (CPOs) will be participating in 34 different events. The events of Equestrian Championship will be Tent Pegging, Show Jumping, Dressage, One Day Eventing. The Mounted Police Duty Meet will have events like Police Horse test, Quadrille, Medlay Relay, Mental Hazards, Syce & Farrier test.
The previous 41st All India Police Equestrian Championship & Mounted Police Duty Meet was held in November 2022 at Border Security Force Academy, Tekanpur.
The history of this event dates back to year 1970 when it was called as All India Police Horse Show and first such event was held in National Police Academy, Mount Abu. Since then, this event has been held at the Academy 15 times.
Since 1994, this event has been organized under the aegis of All India Police Sports Control Board. This event assists in promoting capabilities and proficiency in mounted police units of various police organizations. In its early years, about 30 horses and riders use to participate in this event and now the number has gone above 300.
The Opening Ceremony of 42nd All India Police Equestrian Championship & Mounted Police Duty Meet is scheduled on 26th December 2023 at 1500 hrs and Closing Ceremony will be held on 5th January 2024 at 1500 hrs.
