The Indian Army, in coordination with the Integrated Defence Staff, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force, conducted a Curtain Raiser event today at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi, to officially launch preparations for the upcoming Tri-Services Academia Technology Symposium, scheduled for 22–23 September 2025.
Theme: ‘Vivek va Anusandhan se Vijay’
With the central theme of ‘Vivek va Anusandhan se Vijay’ (Wisdom and Innovation for Victory), the symposium aims to foster collaboration between the Indian Armed Forces and academic institutions to drive the development of indigenous, cutting-edge defence technologies. The initiative is a major step in building a synergised Services-Academia R&D ecosystem in pursuit of long-term strategic self-reliance.
Objective: Bridging the Gap Between Research and Defence Application
The primary goal of the symposium is to identify and channel the scientific potential present within India’s academic sector to address the specialised technological requirements of the Armed Forces. It is aligned with the Government of India’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat in the defence sector.
Symposium Portal Inaugurated
As part of the Curtain Raiser, a dedicated portal was inaugurated to encourage widespread academic participation. Through the portal:
- Institutions can register representatives to join as Attendees or submit project proposals and exhibits.
- Attendees will gain access to seminars and panel discussions during the main event.
- Submitted proposals will be reviewed by subject matter experts from the respective Services.
Shortlisted projects will be invited for direct engagement with military representatives and showcased at the symposium exhibition. The most impactful innovations will be recognised during the valedictory session.

The Tri-Services Academia Technology Symposium underscores the Armed Forces’ commitment to nurturing indigenous innovation, strengthening India’s defence preparedness, and ensuring strategic autonomy through homegrown research and development.
