In a bold move aimed at completely freeing Indore from child beggars, District Collector Asheesh Singh is leading an intensive campaign characterized by strong actions and new approaches.
The important aspect of this campaign is citizen involvement. A dedicated WhatsApp hotline (9691729017) has been established for the reporting of incidents of child begging within Indore. Citizens are urged to provide elaborate details such as names of these street children, their photos and where they reside. In order to encourage public participation, people giving information that proves to be right will be given a reward Rs 1000 on each occasion with bonus for repeat informants.
To enhance surveillance efforts, CCTV cameras will be installed strategically at intersections throughout the city to deter and monitor instances of child begging. The Women and Child Development Department personnel shall be stationed at key points in various areas like AICTSL, Police Control Room among others to quickly identify and report cases relating to child begging observed in those areas.
