Amidst a recent development, the Indian Navy shook hands with the Maharatna PSU Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) under the centre’s flagship green initiative under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. Following a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two authorities, the PSU handed away a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Bus to the Indian Navy for trials and performance testing — a pivotal step towards the Nation’s commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship. This symbolizes the determination to embrace innovative solutions that address the pressing challenges of climate change and energy security.
The said MoU was signed between the Controller of Logistics in the Indian Navy, Mr. Deepak Kapoor, and Dr. Kannan Chandrasekaran, the Executive Director of the IOCL. Other eminent dignitaries present during the MoU signing were Adm Mr. Dinesh K Tripathi, the incumbent Chief of the Naval Staff and Mr. Shrikant Madhav Vaidya, the Chairman of IOCL. The Operation of the bus under the Indian Navy shall facilitate a comprehensive study in terms of performance, durability and operational reliability of Fuel Cell Buses for public transit applications.
