A city court granted bail to IPS officer D Roopa in connection with a defamation case filed by IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri. IPS officer D Roopa had appeared before the court on Tuesday and the court granted her bail with conditions.
IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri had lodged a private complaint against IPS officer Roopa that the latter was indulging in character assassination. Sindhuri had accused Roopa of making statements against her in the media and in social media that had put a dent on her personal, social and professional life. Sindhuri had also accused Roopa of causing her mental agony.
The court had ordered a criminal complaint against Roopa and had even issued summons to the IPS officer. IPS officer Roopa appeared before the court on Tuesday and was granted bail with conditions.
Meanwhile, IPS officer Roopa had approached the High Court to reject the criminal defamation case filed against her by IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri. However, Judge M Nagaprasanna had recused himself from hearing the plea, on Monday.
The criminal plea filed by the IPS officer in the high court had come up before the high court judge M Nagaprasanna. But the judge recused himself from hearing the plea saying that he had represented IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri in a different case earlier.
