IPS officer D Roopa has been transferred as the managing director of Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation. A 2000 batch IPS officer Ms. Roopa took charge of the new post on Friday. She was the first woman home secretary of Karnataka and has been transferred more than double times of her service.
The recent transfer have come after her public spat with another IPS officer Hemant Nimbalkar . Mr Nimbalkar has also been given new posting. He was the additional commissioner (administration) in Bengaluru and has been posted in internal security department now.
Let be noted that both the officer clashed after D Roopa accused Nimbaklar for the irregularities in the tender process of Rs 619 crore Bengaluru safe City project under the Nirbhaya scheme. While Nimbaklar accused D Roopa of interfering with the tender process without jurisdiction.
Commenting on the transfer she said, “ The only thing that matter to me is public interest must be upheld and the corrupt must be punished. If my shift paves the way for action on the corrupt, I welcome it.”
She also said that her transfer is like putting her on an equal footing with other IPS officer Nimbalkar chargesheeted by CBI & CBI has recommended for Disciplinary action of Major Penalty against him in last December, one year ago, which is not yet done.
