In a notable administrative decision, IPS officer Vikas Kumar (2013 batch, AGMUT cadre), who has been serving as Superintendent of Police (SP) in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), has been returned to his parent cadre, AGMUT.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the reversion on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, following a proposal from the AV Division of the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). The approval includes the enforcement of the “cooling-off” period condition.
Vikas Kumar began his deputation with the CBI in August 2021, initially for a four-year term scheduled to conclude in August 2025. However, this tenure has now been curtailed as part of the reversion process.
