Patna: Just before the Bihar Assembly election results, RJD MLC Sunil Singh made a provocative statement, warning that if there were irregularities in the vote count, Bihar could be turned into Bangladesh or Nepal. His remarks raised the political temperature in the state, drawing sharp criticism from the BJP, JDU, and the Election Commission.
Taking swift action, Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar described the statement as provocative and disruptive to communal harmony and directed the concerned police station to file an FIR. Speaking to the media, he emphasized that:
- Preparations for the vote count have been made, with adequate police deployment.
- Victory celebrations will not be allowed anywhere, as per Election Commission rules.
- The statement by Sunil Singh is irresponsible and inflammatory; an FIR has been filed.
DGP Vinay Kumar reiterated that both voting and counting processes will remain transparent, underlining his strict approach to law and order.
