IRCON International Limited, a prominent public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Railways, has secured a major contract worth Rs. 1,068.34 crore from East Central Railway for the construction of a new railway bridge over the River Ganga.
Awarded under the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) mode, the project involves the construction of a Broad Gauge (BG) Rail Bridge comprising two spans of 32.086 meters and thirty-three spans of 122 meters, all in the form of Open Web Steel Girders. The bridge will feature a double-line track sub-structure and a single-line track superstructure.
To be built between Bikramshila and Katareah stations, the bridge forms a critical component of a new railway line aimed at boosting connectivity across Bihar. The construction is expected to be completed within 1,460 days—approximately four years.
The project is fully domestic and does not involve any related party transactions or interests of the promoter group. It aligns with Indian Railways’ broader infrastructure development plan and is expected to significantly enhance the movement of freight and passenger trains in the region.
