In a recent administrative reshuffle, Biswarup Das, an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of the 2010 batch, has been re-assigned to a new role. Currently serving as the Joint Advisor at the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Das has been appointed as the Director at the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions.
This new appointment is a lateral shift and carries the responsibility of overseeing key functions at the UPSC, with a tenure that extends until May 10, 2027. The UPSC plays a vital role in recruitment and examinations for various civil services across India, and Das’s extensive experience is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the commission’s operations.
As Joint Advisor at the NDMA, Das had contributed significantly to disaster management strategies and policy development, particularly during the critical phases of natural calamities. His expertise in governance and administrative affairs is anticipated to complement the UPSC’s role in maintaining transparency and efficiency in civil service recruitment.
