The central government has appointed Mr. Kapil Raj, an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer of the 2009-batch, as Additional Director in the GST Intelligence Headquarters. Prior to this, he served as Additional Director in the Enforcement Directorate (ED), Delhi.
During his tenure at the ED, Mr. Raj was also entrusted with the additional charge of the Jharkhand Regional Enforcement Directorate, where he played a key role in investigating money laundering cases against politicians and administrative officers, leading to several high-profile arrests.
In December 2024, his services were withdrawn from the ED, and he was sent back to his parent department. He is expected to assume his new responsibilities at the GST Intelligence Headquarters within the next couple of days.
