New Delhi: In a recent development in the Indian bureaucracy, two significant officer postings have been announced involving the Indian Revenue Service and the Indian Administrative Service.
Upendra Prabhudas Rathod IRS Appointed Deputy Registrar, GSTAT Surat
Upendra Prabhudas Rathod, a 2023-batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes), has been transferred and appointed as Deputy Registrar at the GST Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT), Surat, Gujarat, on a deputation basis.
Rathod was serving as Assistant Director at the Directorate General of Audit, Ahmedabad Zonal Unit. His new posting, effective September 1, 2025, places him at Level-11 under the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC) for a period of three years.
This appointment comes amid the operational strengthening of GSTAT benches across India, as the government looks to expedite the resolution of GST-related disputes and reduce case backlogs.
IAS Officer Kanika Transferred to AGMUT Cadre
In another key move, Kanika, an IAS officer of the 2022 batch from the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, currently serving as Deputy Secretary in the General Administration Department (GAD), Assam, has been granted inter-cadre transfer.
She is being transferred from the Assam segment of the Assam-Meghalaya joint cadre to the AGMUT cadre (Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram-Union Territories). She has been formally relieved from the Assam segment, paving the way for her to take up a new role under the AGMUT framework.
Such cadre transfers are typically approved under special grounds, including personal or administrative reasons, and must be cleared by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT).
