The government has approved the re-designation of Himanshu Roy, an Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer from the 2011 batch, from Deputy Secretary to Director in the Department of Pharmaceuticals. His promotion is personal to him and will take effect from the day he assumes charge.
As per an order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Roy will serve in this capacity until September 4, 2028, or until further instructions are issued, whichever comes first.
The Department of Pharmaceuticals, operating under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, is responsible for formulating policies to regulate and promote the pharmaceutical industry in India. Roy’s elevation aligns with the government’s strategy to strengthen leadership roles in crucial sectors.
