Following a directive issued on February 16, 1988 batch IRS (Income Tax) officer, Mr. Sanjay Kumar, was assigned the designation of Member (Audit and Judicial) at the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
CBDT is generally constituted of six members led by a chairperson (each enjoying the rank and pay of a special secretary) and has reached its optimum strength with the appointment of Mr. Kumar. The CBDT is entitled to formulate and regulate policies within the Income Tax Department and is responsible for collecting various types of taxes like personal income tax and corporate tax.
