New Delhi/Thiruvananthapuram: The Government of Kerala, in collaboration with ITI Limited, India’s first post-independence public sector undertaking (PSU), launched Kerala Savaari 2.0, the upgraded version of the state’s online auto and cab booking platform. The launch event took place on November 4 in Thiruvananthapuram, with Kerala’s Labour Minister Sivankutty inaugurating the platform, alongside Labour Commissioner Safna Nazarudeen (IAS), technical partners, labour union leaders, and media representatives.
Currently operational in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi, Kerala Savaari 2.0 is designed to evolve into a multi-modal transport system by December 2025, integrating metro, water metro, metro feeder buses, autos, and cabs, making it the first such government-led platform in India.
Government-Owned, Driver-Friendly Model
Implemented by the Kerala Motor Workers Welfare Fund Board (KMWWFB) under the Labour Department, Kerala Savaari operates on a subscription-based model, rather than commission-based. This ensures fixed government-regulated subscription rates, improving earnings and financial stability for drivers.
Since its pilot phase in April 2025, the platform has onboarded over 23,000 drivers, completed 3.6 lakh trips, and generated ₹9.36 crore in driver revenues, averaging approximately 1,200 daily rides in Thiruvananthapuram and Kochi.
Expanding Services for Commuters
Kerala Savaari 2.0 aims to become a comprehensive mobility app, integrating ticketing and services for metro, water metro, tourism, temple visits, and railway systems. Future expansions also plan to include ambulance and goods vehicle services, maintaining government-fixed tariffs to ensure affordability.
Labour Minister Sivankutty emphasized, “Kerala Savaari is not just an app — it is a symbol of the Kerala Government’s commitment to worker welfare and providing safe, affordable transport for the public.”
ITI Limited’s Role in Technical Support
Rajesh Rai, Chairman and Managing Director of ITI Limited, highlighted the PSU’s contribution to the initiative, stating:
“ITI Limited is delighted to partner with the Government of Kerala to launch this commuter-friendly platform. Our Palakkad Unit has been supporting the state through multiple initiatives, including supplying driving licenses and registration certificates, digitising records for the Motor Workers Welfare Fund Board, and providing laptops to schools. With Kerala Savaari 2.0, we are happy to contribute to improving commuter convenience and digital governance.”
ITI’s Palakkad Unit will continue providing technical support, addressing shortcomings from the 2022 pilot phase to ensure seamless operation of the upgraded platform.
