The ACC (appointment committee of cabinet) approved the appointment of Mr J B Mohapatra, member CBDT as the Chairman of CBDT on monday. ‘Central board of direct taxes'(CBDT) is a government body that makes the policy for the Income tax department. Mr Mohapatra has been given this additional charge along with his duty after Mr P C Modi’s (an IRS officer of 1982 batch) tenure came to an end on monday.
Mr. Mohapatra is given this charge for next 3 months or till the regular appointment. On may 27 Mr J B Mohapatra along with his 2 IRS batchmates, was appointed as member of CBDT for a period of one year. Mr. Jagannath Bidhyadhar Mohapatra is IRS officer of 1985 batch. Before joining CBDT he was serving as the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income tax of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana region.
