The Janata Dal (United) on Sunday appointed Ramchandra Prasad Singh popularly known as (RCP) its president at the party’s national executive. RCP is a former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1984-batch.
CM Nitish Kumar was re-elected as the JD(U) president in 2019 for the next three years. But, the CM separated himself and suggested the name of RCP for the post. Then members of the national executive approved the name of RCP.
RCP Singh is a former IAS of Uttar Pradesh cadre. He has been working with Nitish Kumar since 1988. RCP was Nitish Kumar’s personal secretary when Kumar was serving as Railway Minister at Centre. Later, RCP became the principal secretary to the CM when Nitish Kumar became the Chief Minister of Bihar in 2005.
RCP took the Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) from his service (IAS) in 2010. After that, he has been made a member of the Upper House, Rajya Sabha by Nitish Kumar. Since then, he has been a member of the Rajya Sabha.
The newly-appointed JD(U) president is from Bihar’s Nalanda district. He was born on 21 May 1982. He did his graduation from Patna University and Master’s from JNU.
RCP married Girija Devi and they have two daughters. One of his daughters, Lipi Singh is a 2016-batch IPS officer.
