In a significant step towards the state’s developmental and welfare goals, the Jharkhand Council of Ministers, chaired by Chief Minister Mr. Hemant Soren, approved 11 major proposals aimed at farmers, athletes, poor families, and government employees. The decisions reflect a strong focus on infrastructure, social welfare, and administrative reforms.

CM Hemant Soren Leads Cabinet Meeting Approving Key Development Projects
The cabinet, in its Monday meeting, prioritized projects that promise long-term economic and social benefits for Jharkhand. The meeting underscored the government’s commitment to enhancing agricultural productivity, supporting vulnerable sections, and improving public infrastructure.
Cambo Mega Lift Irrigation Scheme Set to Transform Ranchi Farming
A centerpiece of the cabinet’s approvals is the Cambo Mega Lift Irrigation Scheme, costing over Rs. 236 crore. The project will deliver water to farms in Mandar and Chanho blocks of Ranchi district through underground pipelines, significantly improving irrigation facilities and supporting local farmers’ livelihoods.
Enhanced Housing Grants for Poor Families and Exemptions for Hockey Stars
The cabinet also approved an increase in financial assistance under the Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar Housing Scheme, raising grants for poor families from 1.20–1.30 lakh rupees to 2 lakh rupees. Additionally, international hockey players Ms. Salima Tete and Ms. Nikki Pradhan will be fully exempted from registration and stamp duty on plots provided by the Jharkhand Housing Board.
Major Road Projects and VIP-VVIP Helicopter Service Extended
Infrastructure development received a boost with approximately Rs. 80 crore sanctioned for the widening and reconstruction of two major roads in Dumka district. The government also approved the extension of the state VIP-VVIP helicopter service for another six months to facilitate administrative and emergency mobility.
Governance Reforms and Pension Revisions Approved
The cabinet cleared an advance of Rs. 7.84 crore for the Ghatsila Assembly by-election. The Jharkhand State Allied and Healthcare Council Rules, 2025, and Multi-Purpose Staff Recruitment Rules, 2025, were also approved to streamline governance. Furthermore, pension revisions for former teachers of government engineering colleges and polytechnic institutes under the Higher and Technical Education Department were sanctioned, reflecting the government’s focus on employee welfare.
