In a major step to reinforce Jharkhand’s healthcare system, the state government has appointed 126 specialist doctors, many of whom were previously employed in other states on higher pay packages. These appointments have been made on attractive salary terms, as part of a broader initiative to bring homegrown medical talent back into Jharkhand’s health sector.
These newly appointed doctors are not just general practitioners but experts across various specialties. Their deployment across different districts is expected to significantly improve the quality of healthcare services in the state.
Biggest Specialist Recruitment Drive in State’s History
Speaking on the development, Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari said this recruitment marks the largest induction of specialist doctors in Jharkhand’s history. He acknowledged that despite the formation of the state over two decades ago, many areas still lack basic healthcare facilities. Dr. Ansari emphasized that while local doctors have long served in other states due to better opportunities, the current government is determined to reverse that trend.
Vision for a Stronger Health System
Dr. Ansari highlighted that both the Chief Minister and he share a vision to transform the healthcare infrastructure in Jharkhand. The state government is offering doctors both their desired postings and competitive salaries in a bid to incentivize them to stay and serve within Jharkhand. Strengthening the health system, he said, remains a top priority for the administration.
Doctors Appreciate the Government’s Proactive Approach
The newly appointed doctors have expressed gratitude towards the state government for this progressive initiative. They noted that while their original motivation was to serve society, low government salaries and remote postings had made it difficult to stay within the system. Now, with better financial support and favorable working conditions, they feel empowered and committed to contributing actively to the state’s healthcare transformation.
One of the appointed doctors stated, “The government is now walking with us. In return, it is our duty to walk alongside the government and play our role in building a stronger health system for Jharkhand.”
