Ahead of the impending state legislative assembly elections, the government of Jharkhand has orchestrated a minor IAS reshuffle. Mr. Varun Ranjan (2014-batch IAS officer) has been made the new DC (Deputy Commissioner) of Ranchi replacing IAS Manjunath Bhajantri (2011 batch). Mr. Varun Ranjan was posted as the Managing Director of the Jharkhand Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation.
Mr. Bhajantri has been appointed the new CEO of the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS). IAS Mrityunjay Kumar Baranwal (2013 batch), who was working as CEO of JSLPS, has been transferred and made the new commissioner of MGNREGA.
It is pertinent to mention that the Chief Election Commissioner, Mr. Rajiv Kumar, has announced the dates for the Jharkhand assembly elections — which are scheduled to take place in two phases. Polling will be held on November 13th and 20th and counting of votes will take place on November 23rd, 2024.
