LATEHAR: The Jharkhand government has announced plans to develop a modern amusement park in Netarhat, inspired by the famous Nikko Jubilee Park in Jamshedpur. The initiative aims to enhance the tourist appeal of this already popular hill station, attracting more visitors while providing world-class recreational facilities. The project is expected to cost Rs 43.08 crore and promises to transform Netarhat into a major tourism destination.
Preparations Underway for the Amusement Park
The Tourism, Arts, Culture & Sports Department has directed the Latehar District Collector to identify suitable land for the amusement park. A detailed project proposal is being prepared under the supervision of the District Tourism Promotion Council to ensure the project is implemented efficiently.
Central Government Support to Boost Development
Jharkhand’s state government plans to seek financial assistance from the central government for the park’s construction. Once the proposal is approved, it could mark a significant milestone in the development of Netarhat as a tourism hotspot.
Nikko Jubilee Park Model as Inspiration
The proposed Netarhat amusement park will follow the model of Nikko Jubilee Park, Jamshedpur, established in 1958 by Tata Steel. The park will feature exciting rides, a water splash zone, children’s play areas, a musical fountain, and a mini zoo—bringing modern entertainment facilities to the picturesque hill station.
Netarhat: The “Queen of Hills”
Known as the “Queen of Hills”, Netarhat is famous for its scenic landscapes, dense forests, cool climate, and breathtaking sunsets. Popular among tourists during New Year and other festive occasions, the area is already listed as an A-grade tourist destination by the state government.
Tourism Development and Infrastructure Expansion
The Netarhat Tourism Development Authority has been set up to improve tourist amenities and implement new projects. Under the Swadesh Darshan Scheme, the government is enhancing visitor facilities around key attractions such as Koel Viewpoint and Netarhat Lake.
Rs 43 Crore Comprehensive Development Plan
With a sanctioned budget of Rs 43.08 crore, the state government plans to upgrade basic infrastructure and create modern recreational amenities. The amusement park will not only boost tourism but also generate local employment opportunities, contributing to the overall economic development of the region.
