Ranchi: Jharkhand Labour, Planning & Training and Skill Development Minister Sanjay Prasad Yadav inaugurated the Jharkhand Skills Utkarshta-2026 program, emphasizing comprehensive skill development along with multi-language training. The initiative aims to address language barriers faced by youth seeking employment in other states such as Chennai and Bengaluru.
“Many trained youth face communication challenges when they move to cities in other states. To overcome this, the department will provide training in local languages alongside skill development programs,” Minister Yadav said at the event organized by the Jharkhand Skill Development Mission Society at Hotel BNR.
Strict Measures to Ensure Training Quality
The Minister also issued a warning to departmental officials and training providers to ensure zero tolerance for irregularities in skill development programs. Any misconduct or malpractice will be met with strict action against the responsible officials.
Expansion of Birsa Skill Centers in Rural Areas
To make training more accessible, Minister Yadav announced that Birsa Skill Centers will be established across all blocks of the state. These centers will allow youth in remote rural areas to access skill training close to home, tailored to local employment needs.
Recognition of Youth Talent in National and International Competitions
During the program, Minister Yadav honored 39 state-level winners selected for the World Skills Competition, who will represent Jharkhand in zonal competitions in Odisha, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. This year, the global event will be held in China.
Cash prizes were awarded to state-level competition winners:
- 1st place: ₹7,000
- 2nd place: ₹5,000
- 3rd place: ₹3,000
Selected youth received offer letters from private sector employers and were flagged off by the Minister to begin their employment journey.
Significant Employment Impact
Secretary of the department, Jitendra Singh, highlighted the impact of the Jharkhand Skills Mission:
- 6.41 lakh youth trained
- 4.88 lakh certified
- 3.14 lakh employed
The program has strengthened collaboration between the government and private sector to enhance employability and skill application across industries.
MoUs with Key Institutions to Boost Training
The Jharkhand Skills Development Mission Society signed MoUs with eight institutions, including Generation India Foundation, Jepeto, Distill Education, Spectrum Talent Management Limited, Kelly Services, and UNICEF. These partnerships will support the Society in providing high-quality skill development training to youth across the state.
Looking Ahead: Inclusive and Multi-Lingual Skill Development
With these initiatives, Jharkhand aims to bridge the gap between training and employment by ensuring youth are not only technically skilled but also equipped to communicate effectively in diverse regions of India. The program is expected to enhance employability, expand rural access, and prepare youth for national and international competitive platforms.
