Ranchi, Jharkhand: 9 Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) rank officers reinstated by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) are set to be promoted to the Indian Police Service (IPS). The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will convene a crucial meeting on August 18 to finalize the promotions. The meeting will include key officials such as the state’s Home Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP).
Vacancies and Promotions in Jharkhand IPS Cadre
Jharkhand has a total of 48 IPS posts, out of which 38 have already been filled. The remaining 10 posts have been vacant due to retirements occurring over the past four years: one vacancy in 2021, four each in 2022 and 2023, and one in 2024.

The upcoming UPSC meeting will focus on filling these 10 remaining vacancies by promoting deserving DSP officers. The participation of the Home Secretary and DGP highlights the importance of this meeting in strengthening Jharkhand’s police leadership.
