Srinagar: In preparation for the upcoming Independence Day celebrations on August 15, Kashmir Zone Inspector General of Police (IGP) V.K. Birdi on Monday announced that multi-tier security arrangements are being implemented to ensure peaceful and smooth conduct of the national event across the Valley.
Speaking to media in Srinagar, IGP Birdi said that comprehensive security drills and rehearsals are currently underway at key locations. These exercises are part of broader measures to safeguard the celebrations amid heightened security concerns.
“In view of the 15th August celebrations, drill rehearsals are taking place, and at the same time, multi-tier security arrangements are being put in place for all security-related measures,” Birdi said.
Joint Effort by Police and Paramilitary Forces
The Jammu and Kashmir Police, in coordination with various paramilitary forces, will be leading the security framework during the event. The multi-layered security grid is aimed at preempting any disruption and ensuring maximum public safety.
“To ensure peaceful and smooth celebrations of the event, multi-tier security arrangements are being made,” IGP Birdi added.
Though details of the exact deployment were not shared due to security protocol, sources indicate that aerial surveillance, on-ground personnel deployment, and technology-driven monitoring will be key components of the security apparatus.
