Srinagar: In a major administrative overhaul of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Manoj Sinha on Thursday ordered the transfer and posting of 82 police officers, including 34 IPS officers, with immediate effect.
The large-scale reshuffle affects senior positions across intelligence, crime, traffic, armed police and district policing, with fresh appointments made in key units such as CID, Crime, Railways and multiple district headquarters. The move is being seen as one of the most extensive police reorganisations in Jammu and Kashmir in recent months.
Order Issued in Administrative Interest
According to the official government order issued by Chandraker Bharti, the transfers were made in the interest of administration.
The reshuffle covers:
- 34 IPS officers
- 48 Jammu and Kashmir Police Service officers
- 15 DIG-rank officers
- Multiple SSPs, SPs and DSPs
Officials said the postings take effect immediately.

CID and Crime Units Get New IGPs
Among the most significant changes, senior officers have been assigned to two crucial investigative wings.
Tejinder Singh, previously DIG, has been posted as IGP, CID.
Sarah Rizvi, who was serving as DIG Udhampur-Reasi Range, has been transferred and appointed IGP, Crime.
She replaces Sujit Kumar, who was holding additional charge.
These two postings are considered particularly important given the operational sensitivity of both wings.
Major DIG-Level Changes Across Ranges
A series of range-level changes were also ordered.
Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range
Shiv Kumar Sharma has been shifted out as DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua.
The post will now be held by the officer earlier heading Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range.
Udhampur-Reasi Range
Shiv Kumar Sharma has been moved to head Udhampur-Reasi range.
Kashmir Traffic and North Kashmir
Haseeb-ur-Rehman has been posted as DIG Traffic Kashmir.
Vinod Kumar becomes new DIG North Kashmir.
He replaces Maqsood-ul-Zaman, who will now serve as DIG Armed Police Kashmir.
Rajouri-Poonch, Doda and Railways See New DIGs
Additional key DIG appointments include:
- Sandeep Wazir — DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range
- Sargun — DIG Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range
- Zahid Naseem Manhas — DIG Railways
These ranges remain strategically important because of terrain, border sensitivity and movement management.
SSP-Level Reshuffle Across Key Districts
A significant district-level reshuffle was also carried out.
Udhampur and Anantnag Swap
Amod Nagpure Ashok and Amritpal Singh have exchanged postings between:
- Udhampur
- Anantnag
New District SSPs
Fresh district chiefs appointed include:
- Kartik Shrotriya — SSP Doda
- Anuj Kumar — SSP Samba
- Mukund Tibrewal — SSP Reasi
- Hariprasad K K — SSP Budgam
- Sudhanshu Dhama — SSP Ganderbal
Security and Training Units Also Restructured
Sukant Shalija Ballabh has been appointed SSP Security Jammu.
He replaces Rajesh Kumar Sharma, who has been moved as Deputy Director at Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy, Udhampur.
Kamal Pal Singh Malhotra has been posted as SSP Finger Print Bureau.
Key JKPS Officers Also Assigned New Roles
Among 48 Jammu and Kashmir Police Service officers shifted:
- Shamsher Hussain — SSP Police Control Room Jammu
- Amit Gupta — SSP CID Jammu
- Mohd Yousuf — SSP Security Civil Secretariat
- Sajad Khalid Bhat — SSP Security Kashmir

The reshuffle comes at a time when Jammu and Kashmir’s policing priorities continue to focus on:
