Major Police Reshuffle in Jammu & Kashmir: DGP Nalin Prabhat Transfers, Adjusts 60 DSP-Rank Officers

Jammu: In a significant administrative exercise aimed at strengthening operational efficiency and optimising manpower deployment, Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, a 1992 batch IPS officer, has ordered a major reshuffle involving 60 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) across various wings of the J&K Police.

The latest order includes the adjustment of 28 newly promoted DSPs and the transfer and posting of 32 serving DSP-rank officers in different units, including CID, State Investigation Agency (SIA), Crime Investigation and Counter Intelligence Establishments (CICE), Traffic Police, Security, Armed Police Battalions, Special Operations Group (SOG), Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) and district headquarters.

The reshuffle is one of the largest DSP-level administrative reorganizations undertaken by the police department in recent months.

28 Newly Promoted DSPs Adjusted in Various Wings

Following their recent promotion to the rank of DSP, 28 officers have been assigned postings across different police establishments.

  • Nasir Syed Kirmani – DSP CICE Srinagar
  • Tahir Ahmad – DSP IT Crime Headquarters

Alongside the adjustments, the DGP ordered transfers and fresh postings of 32 DSP-rank officers.

Albeena Malik transferred from DSP CICE Jammu to DSP SDRF Jammu.
Shahjan Choudhary shifted from DSP SIA Jammu to DSP Headquarters Baramulla.
Kosheen Koul moved from DSP CID SB Samba-Kathua to DSP 16 JKAP IR.

Bandipora, Traffic and CID Changes

  • Zafar Mehdi transferred from DSP SIA Kashmir to DSP Headquarters Bandipora.
  • Ajaz Ahmed moved from DSP 8 JKAP to DSP Traffic Rajouri-Poonch.
  • Shoket Ali shifted from DSP CID SB Batote/Ramban to DSP Traffic Doda-Kishtwar.
  • Kulwant Singh transferred from DSP PTS Manigam to DSP CID CI Baramulla.

  • Sukhdev Singh moved from DSP Traffic Samba-Kathua to DSP 18 JKAP IR.
  • Mohammad Rafee Rather posted as DSP CID SB Srinagar.
  • Tariq Ahmad Tak shifted to DSP Traffic Anantnag.

The DGP’s order also includes temporary additional arrangements:

  • DSP SOG Darhal will additionally hold charge of DSP SOG Kandi, Rajouri until further orders.
  • DSP DAR Ramban will also hold additional charge of DSP SOG Ramban until further orders.

Reshuffle Aims to Strengthen Operational Efficiency

The large-scale movement of officers comes at a time when the Jammu and Kashmir Police is intensifying focus on intelligence gathering, anti-terror operations, law and order management, traffic regulation, anti-narcotics efforts and security deployment across the Union Territory.

By repositioning officers across specialized units, battalions, district headquarters and investigative wings, the police leadership aims to improve coordination, operational readiness and administrative efficiency across the force.
