In accordance with the powers vested under the Constitution of India, President Droupadi Murmu has made significant appointments and transfers in the judiciary:
- Appointment of Acting Chief Justice of Patna High Court: Under Article 223 of the Constitution, Justice Ashutosh Kumar, currently serving as a Judge of the Patna High Court, has been appointed to perform the duties of the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court. This decision will take effect upon Justice Krishnan Vinod Chandran relinquishing his office following his elevation to the Supreme Court of India.
- Transfer of Chief Justice of Telangana High Court: Exercising the power conferred by Article 222(1) of the Constitution, and after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, the President has transferred Justice Alok Aradhe, Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court and directed him to assume charge of the office of the Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court.
- Transfer of Chief Justice of Bombay High Court: In a similar exercise of power under Article 222(1), the President, after consultation with the Chief Justice of India, has transferred Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, as the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court and directed him to assume charge of the office of the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court.
