In a significant stride towards environmental conservation, the Karur Forest Division in Tamil Nadu is witnessing the birth of a breathtaking new forest, as 10,000 native tree saplings take root under the ambitious Green Tamil Nadu Mission. The region has become a canvas for sustainable reforestation efforts, contributing to a larger statewide initiative that has already seen over one Crore saplings planted this season.

Under the Green Tamil Nadu Mission, a concerted effort has been made to revitalize and replenish the state’s green cover. The Karur Forest Division’s landscape is being transformed as saplings of native tree species find their home in the fertile soil. This initiative not only promises to enhance the natural beauty of the region but also underscores the commitment to biodiversity and sustainable ecological practices.

IAS officer Supriya Sahu took to the Social Media platform X to share the news. The officer shared a video showcasing the forest.

In her tweet. Ms. Sahu shared, “A beautiful new forest is coming up in the Karur Forest Division in Tamil Nadu. Around 10,000 native tree saplings have been planted under the Green Tamil Nadu Mission. This season we have already planted more than one crore seedlings under the mission in the entire state. These have also been geo-tagged.”
