New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has announced that 1,466 personnel from various States, Union Territories (UTs), Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and Central Police Organisations (CPOs) have been awarded the prestigious ‘Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak’ for the year 2025. The announcement coincides with the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Purpose of the Award
The ‘Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak’ is conferred to recognize outstanding contributions, promote high professional standards, and boost the morale of officials/officers working in the following four fields:
- Special Operation
- Investigation
- Intelligence
- Forensic Science
The award emphasizes excellence in operations, exceptional performance in investigations, daring intelligence work, and meritorious contributions in forensic science.

Initiation and Leadership
The medal was instituted under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and under the guidance of Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah. It was formally notified by the Ministry of Home Affairs on 1st February 2024.
The award is open to members of:
- Police forces across States and UTs
- Security organizations and intelligence wings
- Special Branches of States/UTs/CPOs/CAPFs
- Forensic science personnel (Central, State, and UT levels)
Significance
The award is not only a recognition of exemplary service but also serves to boost the morale of police and security personnel nationwide. It celebrates dedication, professionalism, and courage in performing critical law enforcement and intelligence functions.
The Kendriya Grihmantri Dakshata Padak is announced annually on 31st October, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary, honoring his legacy of integrity, discipline, and nation-building.
