Kerala: Major Reshuffle in IAS Officers Ahead of Chief Secy Appointment, Veena N Madhavan Made Special Secy, Dept of Administrative Reforms

In a significant administrative overhaul in Kerala, the duties of several IAS officers have been restructured in anticipation of 1990 batch IAS officer Sarada Muraleedharan’s forthcoming elevation to the position of State Chief Secretary. This shake-up follows a surge in central deputations, prompting the reassignment of key responsibilities to accommodate the changing landscape.

1992 batch IAS officer and State Home Secretary Bishwanath Sinha will now oversee the additional portfolios of Irrigation and Inland Navigation, as well as Coastal Shipping.

While, Dr. Veena N Madhavan, an IAS officer of 2010 batch and previously the Director of Employment and Training, has been appointed as Special Secretary in the Department of Administrative Reforms and will also manage the Department of Cooperation.

2011 batch IAS officer K Jeevan Babu, who previously served as the Director of the National Health Mission and State Mission, has been appointed Managing Director of the Water Authority. Meanwhile, Dr. Vinay Goyal, the IT Mission Director, has been promoted to Mission Director and will take on additional responsibilities as MD of the Medical Services Corporation and Special Secretary for e-Health.

2012 batch IAS officer Dr. D. Sajith Babu, formerly Commissioner of Civil Supplies, has been reassigned as Registrar of the Cooperative Department. The position of Civil Supplies Commissioner has been filled by Kollam Sub Collector Mukund Thakur.

TV Subhash, who was the Registrar of the Cooperative Department, has been reinstated as Director of Public Relations and Development (PRD) and assigned the additional role of MD of the State Cooperative Agricultural Rural Development Bank.

K Gopalakrishnan, Director of the Scheduled Caste Development Department, will now also serve as Director of the Industry and Commerce Department. Sriram Venkataraman, Joint Secretary for Resources in the Finance Department, has been given additional responsibilities as MD of the Kerala Financial Corporation (KFC).

Thiruvananthapuram Sub Collector Dr. Ashwathi Srinivas has been appointed Ernakulam District Development Commissioner, with additional duties as MD of the Vyttila Mobility Hub and the Kerala Construction Corporation.

Thiruvalla Sub-Collector Safna Nasruddin will now serve as Labor Commissioner, while Idukki Sub Collector Arun S Nair has been appointed Entrance Examination Commissioner and given additional charge as Director of the Remote Sensing Environment Centre.

Thrissur Sub Collector Mohammad Safiq is now the Deputy Secretary of the Project Monitoring Department and has been assigned the role of MD of the Kerala Transport Development Finance Corporation (KTDFC).

Tirur Sub-Collector Sachin Kumar Yadav will take on the role of Deputy Secretary in the Finance Department. Kanhangad Sub-Collector Sufiyan Ahmed has been appointed Director of Employment and Training with additional responsibilities as MD of the Kerala Academy for Skills Excellence.

Thalassery Sub Collector Sandeep Kumar has been designated the new IT Mission Director.

These changes are expected to streamline administrative operations and enhance efficiency across various departments in the state.
