Hyderabad/New Delhi: The bureaucracy saw key appointments on Monday, with Telangana IAS officer Sabyasachi Ghosh taking charge in a crucial state department and senior IRS officer Sunil Kumar Sinha securing a central quasi-judicial role.
Sabyasachi Ghosh Assigned Tribal Welfare Department
Sabyasachi Ghosh, a 1994-batch IAS officer of Telangana cadre, has been given Full Additional Charge (FAC) as Special Chief Secretary to Government, Tribal Welfare Department. He replaces IAS Alagu Varsini V.S., a 2012-batch officer, who had been holding the FAC role.
Ghosh’s elevation underscores the government’s focus on strengthening tribal development initiatives. His long administrative experience across various departments is expected to aid the state’s welfare policies for marginalized communities.
Sunil Kumar Sinha Appointed Technical Member in GSTAT
Meanwhile, the Centre has appointed Sunil Kumar Sinha as Technical Member (Centre) in the State Benches of the Goods and Services Tax Appellate Tribunal (GSTAT).
Sinha, an officer of the Indian Revenue Service (Customs & Indirect Taxes), will bring decades of expertise in tax administration to his new quasi-judicial role. His induction is seen as a step to bolster the tribunal’s functioning and expedite GST-related dispute resolution across states.
Strengthening Administration at State and National Levels
The two appointments highlight ongoing efforts to enhance governance both at the state level in Telangana and within India’s central tax framework. While Ghosh will oversee a sensitive welfare portfolio, Sinha’s role will focus on ensuring smoother adjudication of complex tax matters.
