New Delhi: IPS officer G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, a native of Kurnool, has been awarded the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG) for the sixth time. A 2014-batch officer, he is currently serving as Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Srinagar and will receive the honour during the Independence Day celebrations in New Delhi.
Recognised for Bravery in Anti-Terror Operations
The award recognises his bravery, courage, and active participation in multiple anti-terrorist operations in the Kashmir Valley. Mr. Chakravarthy completed his schooling at Montessori Public School, A-Camp, Kurnool, and earned his medical degree from Kurnool Medical College before joining the Indian Police Service in 2014.
Extensive Service Record in Jammu & Kashmir
During his career, he has served in several key postings across Jammu and Kashmir, including ASP Poonch, District SP of Handwara, Kupwara, Kulgam, Anantnag, South Zone Srinagar, and Operations in Baramulla.
Apart from the six PMGs, Mr. Chakravarthy has been honoured with the Jammu and Kashmir Police Medal for Gallantry four times, the Indian Army Chief’s Commendation Disc, and several other awards.
Family Background
His father, Dr. G.V. Rama Gopal Rao, is a retired RMO at the Government General Hospital, Kurnool, while his mother, P.C. Rangamma, retired as an officer in the Health Department.
