The MoU reinforces NRL’s ongoing commitment to supporting the operational infrastructure of Assam’s ferry network, which plays a vital role in regional connectivity and public transport.
Agreement Details and Signatories
Under the agreement, NRL will supply 80–100 kiloliters of HSD per month on a delivery basis, helping sustain ferry operations that serve thousands of daily commuters, especially those living on the world’s largest river island, Majuli.
The MoU was formally signed by-

The signing ceremony was attended by officials from both organizations, highlighting the importance of inter-agency collaboration in enhancing public transportation services.
Supporting Assam’s Lifeline Ferry Services
NRL has been supplying HSD to IWT for the past two years, playing a critical role in ensuring uninterrupted ferry operations between Majuli and Jorhat Town. These ferry routes are essential for the people of Majuli, who rely on them for daily commuting, transportation of goods, and access to public services.
In addition to Majuli, NRL’s fuel supplies at Guwahati Ghat support ferry connections to the northern bank of the Brahmaputra River, serving as a vital transit link for many remote communities.
Strengthening Regional Connectivity
This collaboration reflects a broader commitment by public sector entities like NRL and IWT to enhance transportation infrastructure in Assam, reduce logistical challenges, and improve last-mile connectivity through sustainable and reliable ferry operations.
