An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Khadakwasla, he was commissioned into the 2nd Lancers (Gardner’s Horse) on December 20, 1986.

Notably, before taking over the Southern Command, he served as the GOC-in-C of the South Western Command. He has also served as a Military Observer with the UN Mission in Angola, demonstrating his international operational experience.
