Lucknow’s ambitious Green Corridor Project, aimed at making the state capital traffic-free and environmentally sustainable, has entered a decisive phase. The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has accelerated large-scale re-engineering works at several major intersections to ensure smooth traffic movement once the corridor becomes fully operational.
Massive Redesign Work at Key Junctions
Key intersections such as Nishatganj, Daliganj, Samta Mulak, Badshahnagar, and nearby areas are being upgraded with a completely new design approach. The objective is to efficiently manage the high traffic flow that will exit the Green Corridor in the coming months.
Work has already begun at Daliganj and Nishatganj, where LDA is constructing:
- Wider roads
- Dedicated traffic lanes
- Separate turning zones
- Smart and adaptive traffic signal systems
These measures aim to decongest critical choke points and ensure seamless mobility throughout the city.

A Vision Launched Under Yogi Government
The Green Corridor initiative was launched in 2022–23 by the Yogi Adityanath government under its mission to transform Lucknow into a “Smart and Green City.”
The project includes 12 major stretches across the city that will be developed as green, congestion-free corridors.
- The first phase started from Basantkunj on Hardoi Road and ended at Kudia Ghat.
- The second phase extends from Kudia Ghat to Nishatganj, where work is progressing rapidly.
- The third phase will connect Nishatganj to Samta Mulak Crossing, with multiple major intersections falling in between—each requiring precise traffic engineering.
Intersections Are Key to Green Corridor Success
LDA Vice Chairman Prathamesh Kumar said that the redesign of intersections is crucial for the project’s success.
“Work at Nishatganj is progressing at high speed. Similar efforts are underway at Daliganj and near Samta Mulak Crossing. Once these intersections are redesigned, city traffic flow will significantly improve,” he said.
Kumar added that several phases of the corridor are already complete, with new intersection designs implemented in those areas. More junctions will be taken up systematically to ensure uniform development across the entire stretch.
A Major Step Toward a Smarter, Greener Lucknow
With the re-engineering of key traffic points and ongoing corridor work, the Green Corridor project is set to transform Lucknow’s mobility landscape. By reducing bottlenecks and encouraging greener pathways, the initiative aims to deliver a modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly transport network—marking a major leap in the city’s urban development vision.
