In a landmark achievement for India’s energy transition, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated the Morena Solar Plus Storage Project, the nation’s first initiative to deliver stable and dispatchable renewable energy at a record-low tariff of Rs. 2.70 per unit. This innovation represents a major step toward affordable, sustainable, and uninterrupted green energy in India.
State’s Clean Energy Capacity Soars Towards 33,000 MW by 2035
Under the Renewable Fuel Policy 2025, Pump Hydel Policy 2025, and the Industrial Promotion Policy, Madhya Pradesh is rapidly expanding its energy infrastructure. The current installed capacity of around 5,000 MW is expected to rise to 33,000 MW by 2035, positioning the state as a national clean energy hub.
Global Leaders Acknowledge Madhya Pradesh at International Energy Conference
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav addressed the Meenaimai International Energy Conference from Bhopal, extending an invitation to host the next summit in Madhya Pradesh. The event was attended by Union Minister for Renewable Energy Mr. Prahlad Joshi, Maldives Minister of State for Environment and Tourism Mr. Ko Muvias Mohamed, and several international industry leaders and stakeholders.
‘Build in India’ Vision Driving Manufacturing and Renewable Growth
Highlighting the broader economic development under Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi’s leadership, Dr. Yadav emphasized India’s progress toward the ‘Net Zero’ goal. He stated that India, and particularly Madhya Pradesh, is now not just the geographical heart but also the manufacturing and energy capital of the nation. India: A Global Clean Energy Leader in the Making
India has already achieved over 251.5 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity and a remarkable 100 GW of solar module manufacturing capacity. With a national target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 and net-zero emissions by 2070, India is emerging as a trusted leader in clean technology and sustainable development globally.
Madhya Pradesh: Powering a Self-Reliant, Green India
Madhya Pradesh has taken several ambitious steps to ensure inclusive access to clean energy. Through schemes like PM-KUSUM, Smart PWD, and Pausam Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, thousands of households are receiving affordable or free electricity. Rewa Solar Park powers Delhi Metro, while Omkareshwar hosts India’s largest floating solar project. Neemuch is home to the country’s largest mountain-based power storage initiative, further strengthening the state’s leadership in green technology.
The Road Ahead: Balancing Growth and Sustainability
With this comprehensive push toward renewable innovation, Madhya Pradesh is setting a development model for other states. However, as India continues its journey to net-zero, addressing local implementation challenges and ensuring equitable access to renewable infrastructure across rural and urban areas will be key.
