Coal India Signs MoU with Rainbow Children’s Foundation to Fund Bone Marrow Transplants for Underprivileged Children

Through its Thalassemia Bal Seva Yojna, Coal India will provide up to Rs 10 lakh per child for life-saving BMT procedures, strengthening healthcare support for children in need across India.

New Delhi: State-run Coal India Limited (CIL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rainbow Children’s Foundation to further strengthen support for Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) treatment for underprivileged children suffering from blood disorders. The MoU signing ceremony was held in the presence of Mr. G. Kishan Reddy, Hon’ble Union Minister of Coal & Mines, Government of India.

Key Leaders Present at the Ceremony

The MoU was formally executed by Dr. K. Prashanth, Group Medical Director at Rainbow Hospital, and Ms. Rekha Pandey, GM CSR at Coal India. The event was also attended by Mr. Sanoj Jha, Chairman of CIL, Dr. Vinay Ranjan, Director (HR), and other senior officials of the company, highlighting the commitment of both organizations toward improving healthcare access for children in need.

Coal India Thalassemia Bal Seva Yojna: Providing Lifesaving Support

Under its flagship CSR initiative, Coal India Thalassemia Bal Seva Yojna, the company will provide financial assistance of up to Rs 10 lakh for BMT procedures for children affected by Thalassemia and Aplastic Anaemia. Since its launch in 2017, the initiative has enabled the successful completion of over 800 BMTs, in collaboration with 18 leading hospitals across India. Currently in its third phase, the program continues to deliver impactful healthcare interventions to vulnerable children nationwide.

Focus on Healthcare Access for Underprivileged Children

This collaboration underscores Coal India’s commitment to bridging healthcare gaps for children from economically weaker backgrounds. By extending financial and logistical support, the company aims to ensure that life-saving treatments are accessible to children who might otherwise be deprived of such care.
