Patna: Children living in Bihar’s child care homes will now have access to dedicated four-wheeler services for hospital visits, court appearances and other essential travel. The Social Welfare Department has approved the arrangement for all 40 child care homes in the state.
Vehicles for 40 Child Care Homes
Each of the 40 child care homes will receive access to one four-wheeler through an outsourced service. The vehicles will transport children to hospitals, courts and other designated locations whenever required.
Earlier, children often relied on auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws or other available transport. The new arrangement aims to make their travel safer, more convenient and better organised.

24×7 Transport Facility
The outsourced vehicles will remain available 24 hours a day and seven days a week. This will help child care homes respond quickly when children need urgent medical treatment or have to appear before a court.
The Social Welfare Department will provide ₹75,000 per vehicle per month for the service.
₹3.6 Crore Approved for One Year
The department has approved the vehicle arrangement for one year. It will spend a total of ₹3.6 crore on the 40 vehicles during the period.
The initiative focuses on ensuring timely and safe transportation for children, particularly for healthcare and legal requirements. It is also expected to reduce dependence on irregular transport options and help child care homes manage essential travel more efficiently.
