Patna: More than 4,600 farmers and 110 farmer groups have applied online under Bihar’s Sugarcane Mechanisation Scheme 2026–27, aimed at reducing cultivation costs and increasing productivity through modern agricultural machinery.
The Sugarcane Industries Department is offering subsidies on 44 types of agricultural machines used for land preparation, sowing, irrigation, weed control, harvesting and crop-residue management.
Up to 50% Subsidy
Farmers can receive up to 40% subsidy on eligible machinery. SC, ST and Extremely Backward Class beneficiaries can receive an additional 10%, taking the maximum subsidy to 50%.
For crop-residue management equipment and set-treatment devices, assistance can reach 75% for general-category farmers and 80% for SC, ST and EBC farmers.

₹8 Lakh Support for Machinery Banks
The scheme also promotes machinery banks to help small and marginal farmers access modern equipment.
Eligible groups and institutions can receive 80% assistance on project costs up to ₹10 lakh, subject to a maximum subsidy of ₹8 lakh.
PACS, JEEViKA groups, ATMA-registered farmer groups, FPOs, Agritech companies and societies, Agricultural Technical Service Providers, licensed jaggery entrepreneurs, sugar mills and relevant government institutions can apply.
Who Can Apply?
Farmers with a valid Sugarcane Farmer ID can apply and receive assistance for up to three agricultural machines. Support is also available for value-addition equipment such as sugarcane juice machines.
Applications Reopened
Eligible applicants can submit applications through the Cane Care Portal or SUMEK Portal. Farmer groups and institutions seeking machinery banks can also apply through the SUMEK portal.
The department has urged eligible farmers to apply soon. The initiative aims to reduce labour dependence, improve farm efficiency and quality, and strengthen farmers’ income through greater mechanisation.
