New Delhi/Raigarh: South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL), a flagship subsidiary of Coal India Limited, has launched a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative titled “Integrated Education for Differently-Abled Children” in Raigarh Block of Raigarh district, Chhattisgarh.
The project aims to promote inclusive education by ensuring that differently-abled children have equal access to quality education, specialised support and an accessible learning environment in local schools.
The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with the Shri Navjyot Education Trust.
SECL Focuses on Inclusive Education
The CSR project is designed to create an inclusive educational ecosystem for children with special needs.
The initiative will support children through different stages, from early identification and assessment to school enrolment, education, rehabilitation and continued learning.
The key focus areas include:
- Early identification and assessment of children with special needs.
- Support for school admission and continued education.
- Individual educational assistance.
- Special education services.
- Assistive devices for children who require them.
- Physiotherapy and speech therapy, wherever required.
- Capacity building and training of teachers.
- Counselling and support for parents.
- Improvement of barrier-free infrastructure in schools.
- Awareness programmes to promote social inclusion.

Project to Support Education and Rehabilitation
The initiative goes beyond classroom education by providing specialised support based on the individual needs of children.
Through assistive devices, therapy services, counselling and special education, the project aims to help children participate more effectively in school and community life.
The programme will also work towards strengthening teachers’ capacity to support children with special needs and improving awareness among families and communities.
Shri Navjyot Education Trust to Implement Project
The project is being implemented by Shri Navjyot Education Trust, which will work towards delivering the various educational and support services under the initiative.
The programme seeks to create a more accessible and supportive learning environment across schools in the Raigarh Block.
Improving barrier-free infrastructure is another important component, aimed at reducing physical barriers that may restrict children’s participation in education.
SECL Officials Attend Launch Programme
The launch programme was attended by senior SECL officials and employees.
Ajay Behera, General Manager (HR/CSR), attended the event as the Chief Guest, while Manoj Kumar, General Manager, Raigarh Area, was present as the Special Guest.
Other SECL officers and staff also participated in the programme.
The event was conducted by Jitendra Kumar Dubey, Manager (HR), Raigarh Area.
Focus on Social Inclusion and Holistic Development
SECL said the initiative reflects its commitment to inclusive development and the holistic growth of children with special needs in the region.
By combining education, specialised care, rehabilitation, teacher training, parental counselling and accessibility measures, the project aims to provide children with better opportunities to learn and participate equally in society.
The CSR initiative is expected to strengthen inclusive education practices in the Raigarh region and promote greater awareness about the needs and rights of differently-abled children.
