2,300 Candidates to Receive Training and Certification
Under the initiative, 2,300 candidates will be supported through structured skill training and certification programmes.
The programme will focus on providing participants with:
- Industry-relevant skills in Smart Meter Technology
- Practical training aligned with power-sector requirements
- Formal certification of acquired competencies
- Recognition of existing skills and capabilities
- Better preparedness for employment and livelihood opportunities
By combining training with formal certification, the initiative seeks to improve the employability of participants and help them access emerging opportunities in the power sector.
Focus on Smart Meter Technology
Smart metering is an important component of the modernisation of India’s electricity distribution system. As the deployment of smart meters expands, trained professionals are increasingly required for installation, operations and related technical activities.
The REC-PSSC initiative will help develop a workforce with relevant skills to support this evolving ecosystem.
The programme also aims to bridge the gap between existing workforce capabilities and the industry’s changing technology requirements.
Supporting the Vision of Viksit Bharat
The initiative reflects REC’s focus on using CSR interventions to promote skill development, employment readiness and livelihood opportunities.
By supporting the training and certification of 2,300 candidates, the programme aims to contribute to the creation of a skilled and self-reliant workforce.
The partnership between REC Foundation and PSSC is expected to strengthen opportunities for youth and skilled workers while contributing to India’s broader objective of becoming a developed and skill-driven economy.
